New Updates of pH, DO and Temperatures!šŸ“‰šŸ

In December, dissolved oxygen -DO- concentrations ranged from 7.1 to 7.7 mg/L, with a mean of ~7.45 mg/L.

Water temperature varied between 28.3 and 28.8 °C (mean ~28.5 °C). A decrease in DO was observed towards the end of the monitoring period, coinciding with higher water temperatures.

Instead, pH values ranged from 7.99 to 8.04, with a mean of ~8.01. Water temperature remained relatively stable, varying between 28.4 and 28.7 °C (mean ~28.5 °C). pH exhibited limited temporal variability, with a slight decline during the early monitoring days followed by an increase towards the end of the period.

Water temperature stayed within the typical Maldivian reef range, with dissolved oxygen showing the expected inverse relationship to temperature. Despite this, oxygen levels remained high, supporting healthy reef metabolism.

pH remained stable, with minor fluctuations likely driven by photosynthesis, respiration, and temperature effects. Overall, these conditions indicate a well-balanced environment, favorable for coral reef functioning during the monitoring period.

Last graph about temperatures of 2025:

Annual temperature range: ~28.9°C (min) – ~30.6°C (max)

-Average temperature: ~29.8–30°C

-Thermal peak: April → greater thermal stress on shallow reefs

-Most stable period: June–July, minimal variations

-Summer drop: August, likely monsoon effect and increased mixing

-Reef impact: prolonged temperatures >30°C = risk of bleaching!

We will come back soon with a new sound project, so stay tuned ;)šŸŽ‰
