Here we go! October comes with a couple of update! let's welcome to 2 new sensors: pH and Oxygen dissolved, ready to monitor the water of our coral garden dive site!
🧪pH: crucial for monitoring the health of marine ecosystems, as changes in pH affect the ability of organisms to form shells, impact the solubility and toxicity of chemicals, and can indicate pollution or acid rain. The current average pH for the Indian Ocean and the global ocean is approximately 8.1.
Our graph shows and average of 8.09 with a max of 8.13 and a minumun of 8.06.
As we can see, it decreases with the time with a temperature that is stable at the average of 29,7 °C.
💧DO mg/l: is essential for the survival of aquatic life, such as fish and other organisms, which use it for respiration. It's a key indicator of water quality, as low levels can signal pollution, algal blooms, or extreme temperatures, leading to anoxic conditions and potential dead zones. Maintaining healthy DO levels is crucial for ecosystem health and can also be vital for some industrial processes.
The average DO in the Indian Ocean varies, but typically ranges from 6 to 8 mg/L in surface waters.
our graph shows a profile that goes parallel with the Temperature.
Both DO and temperature increas between 2-4 Oct, DO peaks around 7,72mg/L on the 3rd of Oct, temperatures also rises up to 29,9 °C.
This increase is, possibly, due to weather or photosynthetic activity.
Small fluttuation between 6th and 7th of October.
💯Stay tuned for more updated!
